Midnight Musings

Bite Sized Thoughts, Life Lessons and Impressions, Poetry

This is night life, she speaks. To no one but herself and her virtual pen.

Over cups of milk tea, she drinks drop by drop.

The cool wind that blankets her skin, the sensible pages and the momentary silence in between. There is an odd, yet pleasant chemistry along her Clementine, his ragged old guitar and those papers that ‘sing’.

She sips again. And again. And yearns for the mysteries of the hours between the nightfall and the dawn.

She captures a thought.

The flavor is called nostalgia. It tastes like a tension between joy and tears.

Look to Him

Bite Sized Thoughts, Christianity, Faith

Look to God, not on your situations.

Even your situations are meant to bow down before Him. Sit, relax, ‘rest’ and watch Him do it. When we humbly admit that we cannot do things on our own, we allow Him to work in and through us. Humility is a position to receive Grace. The ability to be joyful and thankful amid trying times comes from knowing that He is in control.  If I may borrow these words from one of our church leaders, David Kahn, who spoke for our Life Series: “Press your heart unto Jesus’s chest.”  I believe that’s truly where genuine “rest” begins to happen. Try to taste and see that He is good, you will never fail to praise Him.

“Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way!” (Jude 1:1-2 MSG)

Photo: "I've discovered praising God is at the center of contentment. As we praise Him, we find the assurance that He's got things covered ... even babies who cry inconsolably and our longing for significance.

It's there, in knowing God sees us and hasn't forgotten us, we find peace.

And it's there, in every walking-rocking-sleepless night, we find purpose.

My season of life is different now, but I'm still faced with saying "goodbye" to things I love. That "little" boy moves away to college next month, and I'm praying for an attitude like King David's — full of praise, grace and generosity of heart.” - Glynnis Whitwer

From Nick Vujicic’s Facebook Page

The picture above is a throwback photo of  Nick Vujicic posted on his Facebook page with the caption “Throwbackkkk! that’s just how I rolled  #tbt #skatebording #wheniwasyoung” .

The photo gave me the definition and illustration of these words:  Limitless. Unstoppable. Grace. Pure Joy. He is such a picture of inspiration. A thought ran in my heart. The world will tell you that you can’t. But it’s your choice whether to listen to the world or to the Word. He chose the latter.

Which voice do you listen to? Is it the voice of your impossibilities, lack, inability and fear? Or is it the voice of possibilities, blessings, courage, faith and ability? Regardless of what position we have in this life, God has endowed every individual with the ability to do great things. God has wonderful things in store for you and me. He has called us higher. He has called us deeper.

How do we define life? Is it a struggle or a discovery? Do you see your situations as mere stumbling blocks or building blocks? Do you focus on the storm while crossing on the other side of the sea? Or do you focus on the presence of Jesus in your boat. To me, it is such an exciting journey of discovery of the great plan than He has for me. As a twenty something, I am grateful that life has taught me to “walk on water” as I focus on the Infinite Love of God. When the world shouts that I can’t, a good question is “How big is your God?”.

I see #Phil413. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
